July 22, 2026
The Board of Education of Emmetsburg Community School District met in a special session on July 22, 2026 at 5:00 PM in the Central Office Board Room.
Present: Kyle Caven, Bill Huberty, Morgan Grimm, Sarah Brugman, Bruce Nelson,
and Brian Brown
Absent: Val Morton
Also Present: Cory Jenness, Alyssa Enderson, Todd Louwagie, Steve Avery
Kyle Caven, Board President called the Meeting to order at 5:00 PM.
CLOSED SESSION: pursuant to 21.5(1)(i) To evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session. Motion by Grimm to go into closed session at 5:15 PM. Seconded by Nelson. Roll Call Vote- Grimm, Nelson, Caven, Huberty, Brugman, and Brown. Caven ended the closed session at 5:20 PM.
CLOSED SESSION: pursuant to 21.5(1)(i) To evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session. Motion by Nelson to go into closed session at 5:22 PM. Seconded by Caven. Roll Call Vote- Grimm, Nelson, Caven, Huberty, Brugman, and Brown. Caven ended the closed session at 5:43 PM.
Brugman made a motion to accept both grievances. Seconded by Brown. All members voted in favor. Motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT: Grimm motioned to adjourn the meeting at 5:47 PM. Seconded by Brown. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
